One year after a series of storms brought down hundreds of trees, the city of Sacramento is reflecting on lessons learned and building on its plans for emergency response. The first round of damaging winds to hit the city in 2023 swept through the metro area on New Year's Eve. A gust of 64 mph was recorded at Sacramento's Executive Airport. The city's director of emergency management, Daniel Bowers, recalled being surprised by the number of trees that came down.
