Utsunomiya City, Tochigi Prefecture, is enjoying a boom with the opening of its next-generation tramway.
The city is also famous for its gyoza (dumplings), and has recently been attracting attention as a production center of Oyaishi (Oya Stone), which is registered as a Japanese Heritage site.
We were given the opportunity to visit an underground Oyaishi mining site, which is still in operation today.
Please take a look at the precious mining process that is taking place deep underground.
