In 2005 Nujabes, a Japanese HipHop producer created the track Aruarian Dance for Samurai Champloo, on the track he sampled a song from 1969 titled The Lamp Is Low by Brazillian Classical and Bossa Nova artist Laurindo Almeida.
Almeida's beautiful song in itself was a cover of covers that surffaced in the United States in 1939 (including that of Mildred Bailey and Frank Sinatra) of a French classical peice by Maurice Ravel titled Pavane Pour Un Infante Défunte.
This progression of the song spanning over 105 years is a beautiful example of how music can be a collaboritive process amongst different creators all over the world.
