A hero Deliveroo driver who stopped a horror knife attack near a school in Dublin has said he is 'praying' for the young victim.
Caio Benicio, intervened to stop the attacker during the ordeal that unfolded in the city's Parnell Square, near to a Irish language medium primary school, at around lunchtime on Thursday.
Mr Benicio, who has two children himself, waded in after he saw the attacker stabbing the five-year-old girl and knocked the attacker down with his helmet.
The 43-year-old said his thoughts are with the young victim who remained in a critical condition in hospital on Friday, and said: "I am praying, it's all I'm thinking of. I saw her in the ambulance, she looked so vulnerable, I had to go with gardai then. I am waiting for news about her. I am hoping."
