After a strong comeback in neighboring Karnataka, the Congress won 64 seats to form the government in BRS-dominated Telangana. The nearly 10-year rule of the Bharat Rashtra Samiti (BRS) ended on Sunday with the resignation of Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao. The BRS has been ruling the state since 2014 when Telangana was carved out of Andhra Pradesh. The Congress won 64 of the contested 118 seats, the BRS got 39 and the BJP got 8. The Congress gave the CPI one seat, where the Communist Party won 7.
