While discussing the Jammu and Kashmir Reservation (Amendment) Bill and J&K Reorganisation (Amendment) Bill, 2023, in Lok Sabha on 5 December 2023, TMC MP Saugata Roy lashed out at the BJP govt for using 'Ek Pradhan, Ek Vidhan, Ek Nishan' slogan, and called it a political statement. Hitting out at Roy, Home Minister Amit Shah said this wasn't a mere political statement for the Bharatiya Janata Party, but a promise they had made in 1950 and was now fulfilled (after the abrogation of Article 370 of the Constitution).
