Aam Aadmi Party MP Raghav Chadha on Tuesday expressed his opposition to a bill related to the appointment and service terms of Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) and election commissioners, saying that the new bill will allow the ruling BJP to appoint 'yes men' as members of the poll panel.
During the debate on Chief Election Commissioner and Other Election Commissioners (Appointment, Conditions of Service and Term of Office) Bill, 2023, Chadha said that, if the bill was passed, the BJP could even make their spokesperson Sambit Patra the CEC, adding that it would be "dangerous" if he was given the post.
