The Rome 1960 Olympics marked the forth consecutive Olympic Football final for the Yugoslavian team and this would be the time they would finally win the title, defeating Denmark 3-1.
Since the London 1948 Olympic Games, Yugoslavia had been able to make it all the way through to the final of the Olympic football tournament. However, they hadn't been able to succeed and win the gold medal on any occasion. This time they faced the Danish team, which had also been to three Olympic finals previously, though not consecutively.
Yugoslavian started the match with a quick goal in the first minute from their captain Milan Galic, which led the way to a solid 3-1 win that gave Yugoslavia their first Olympic football title.
