Two people trapped in a burning high-rise building in Reading have been lifted to safety from the roof by a crane.
The blaze erupted at about 11.38am this morning at the Station Hill development site near the centre of the Berkshire town. Paramedics confirmed two people were taken to hospital for smoke inhalation.
Video appears to show a workman on the roof being lifted to safety by a crane as dark smoke billowed around him. Crowds below cheered and applauded as the man was winched to safety.
Royal Berkshire Fire and Rescue Service said it received reports of the blaze near Napier Road at 11.38am on Thursday.
