A large fire has broken out at the construction site of a high-rise building in Reading.

Two people were taken to hospital for treatment for smoke inhalation after the incident at the Station Hill development site in the Berkshire town on Thursday morning. Footage on social media appeared to show a workman being rescued from the scene in a white cage operated by a crane, with a crowd of people on the ground cheering as he was lifted to safety.
